About Virginia Schweninger
Virginia Schweninger was born and raised in Southern California where she studied and performed music from the age of six. She obtained a BFA degree in Harp and went on to live the exciting life of a pro musician.
Over the years, she and her husband, Dave, created a very successful entertainment design company with projects for Disney, Universal Studios, The Sears Tower and The World Trade Center “Top of the World” Observation Deck and more. Following the tragedy of 9/11, Dave and Virginia packed up and moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Charlottesville, VA and began a rich new life.
Virginia performs widely as a freelance harpist and has developed a busy harp studio with students studying both pedal and lever harp. She is Founder and Director of Harp Camp Virginia (a sleepover summer camp for aspiring young harpists) and Harp Song of the Blue Ridge, an ensemble of harpists. She has prepared many adult students to perform at the bedside as CMP’s and with the Music By the Bedside program for Hospice of the Piedmont.
Just one month after their arrival in Nelson County, Virginia began playing her harp for Sunday brunch at the much-loved French café Basic Necessities in Nellysford. Many a bride has first heard her play there.
Locations where Virginia often plays for weddings and events include Pippin Hill Vineyard, King Family Vineyard, Pharsalia Plantation, The Clifton Inn, Oakridge Estate, Wintergreen Resort, Veritas Winery & Farmhouse, Del Fosse Winery, Farmington Country Club, the UVA Chapel, the Nellysford Country Inn, Trump Chapel and the Trump Winery and The Blue Toad Cidery.
